It was on November 4, 1824, when Pope Leo XII attended the inauguration of the academic year of the “Schools of the Pontifical Roman Seminary”.The Institute has thus celebrated two centuries of commitment to the promotion of knowledge and spiritual values under the protection of the Saint, founder and first bishop of the Church of Ravenna. Generations of students have drawn inspiration from this institution, learning not only academic subjects but also the values of compassion, tolerance, and solidarity. Over these two centuries, the Institute has evolved and adapted to the challenges of modern times, becoming a prestigious educational center capable of integrating culture with human and spiritual formation. The commemorative stamp marking the anniversary, designed by Patrizio Daniele, features at the bottom a depiction of the building housing the Institute, and above it, a detail from the mosaic dating back to 533–549 AD that covers the entire apse of the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in Classe in Ravenna, built to house the remains of the Saint. He is portrayed in episcopal vestments, with arms raised in the ancient gesture of prayer, surrounded by evergreen plants, symbols of eternity.
