Stamp series 25th Anniversary of the Foundation Venice for Peace Research (joint issue with Italy) - €1.25
Twenty-five years of research, dissemination, and promotion. Founded on November 3, 1999, the Venice Foundation for Peace Research has undertaken initiatives that, starting from the socio-political context, have fostered peace processes, particularly through the defense of individual and peoples’ rights under the law. The focus on research has been accompanied, through the publication of books, notebooks, conferences and lectures, by an activity of dissemination of the results acquired on the various topics. The Foundation's current philosophy is that Peace transcends purely theoretical boundaries of study to meet the path of action and enter everyday life. But to be able to imagine a process leading towards a possible peace, the effort must be joint. The path to peace also passes through acceptance because very often it is the culture of exclusion that leads us to see others as strangers or even enemies. The stamp dedicated to the anniversary reproduces, against the backdrop of an ancient map of the city of Venice, the Foundation’s logo representing the profile of a dove, long associated with the message of Peace, which at the same time recalls the shape of the prow of a Venetian gondola. The maroon color used is a further reference to the city of Venice, inspired by the Gonfalon of Saint Marco, the traditional flag of Venice. One of the Foundation’s most important goals is for Venice to become the world capital of Peace, and this stamp is meant to be a symbol: something small in size yet imbued with an immensely greater meaning, Peace.
