An Ideal Pilgrimage Around the World Towards the Jubilee 25

We have reached the final stage of our journey in preparation for the Jubilee 2025. Europe is the destination that also marks the beginning of a new, more intimate and personal path of spiritual renewal. The Jubilee asks us to set out and cross some boundaries, inside and outside ourselves, because when we move, we not only change place but also transform ourselves a little. For this, it is important to prepare, to plan the journey and to know the destination. In our journey towards Christ, the true goal of the Holy Year, we have always been guided by the Virgin Mary.For this final stage, we have chosen the icon of the Mother of God Salus Populi Romani. Housed in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and traditionally attributed to St. Luke the Evangelist, patron saint of painters, it is a constant destination for pilgrims and is regularly visited by the Holy Father before and after each of his apostolic journeys. Mary is shown holding the Child Jesus, who blesses with one hand and holds a book, likely the Gospels, with the other. The cross-shaped star on the veil covering the Virgin’s head symbolizes her virginity. As always, the leaflet features a globe highlighting the continent in focus, in this case, Europe. A red dot draws attention to the city of Rome and St. Peter’s, which are preparing to welcome, in the coming year, numerous pilgrims from all over the world, so that they may reap the spiritual fruits of the Jubilee journey.
