Stamp series Easter of Resurrection MMXXVI - € 1,35
The Postal and Philatelic Service of the Vatican City State celebrates Easter 2026 with an issue dedicated to the heart of the liturgical year and of the Christian faith. In this solemnity, the Church commemorates Christ’s passage from death to life, the proclamation of salvation for all humanity. The stamp features the Resurrection of Christ as interpreted by Domenico Cresti, known as the Passignano, taken from a painting preserved in the Vatican Pinacoteca. Through a dynamic use of light, the Florentine artist transforms the pictorial surface into a proclamation of victory: Christ emerges as the Living One, triumphant over the darkness. In this composition, the empty tomb becomes an eloquent symbol of hope and the path opened toward eternity. Passignano, a leading figure of the artistic season between Florence and Rome, confirms himself as a master in engaging the viewer, offering a visual meditation that makes the Christian mystery accessible through beauty. With this issue, the Vatican renews the Easter proclamation, entrusting philately with bearing witness to the enduring relevance of the Resurrection, foundation of faith and inexhaustible source of light for the contemporary world.
