75th diplomatic realtions Holy See - Indonesia

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Indonesia, the Postal and Philatelic Service issues a stamp to commemorate this important milestone in the history of the Holy See's international relations, in the common commitment to promoting peace and dialogue among peoples. This collaboration has also been expressed through official and pastoral visits by Popes, including the memorable visit of St. John Paul II in 1989, which testified to the desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship and promote mutual understanding between religions. Relations between the Holy See and Indonesia continue to be based on a shared vision of spiritual and cultural cooperation, in the belief that only through encounter, listening and mutual understanding is it possible to build more just and supportive societies. The stamp depicts the symbols of the two states: the Vatican coat of arms with the crossed keys of St. Peter and the Indonesian national emblem, the Garuda Pancasila, represented with outstretched wings.
