Miniature sheet Apostolic Journeys of Pope Francis around the world in the year 2024 - € 13,40
The Postal and Philatelic Service of Vatican City has issued a new philatelic release dedicated to the apostolic journeys of Pope Francis during the year 2024, the final ones of his intense and fruitful pontificate. The series, entitled “Pope Francis’ Journeys Around the World – Year 2024,” celebrates the universal mission of the Holy Father, a pilgrim of peace and a witness of fraternity among peoples. The stamps recall the 2024 visits that saw the Pontiff travel to Ajaccio (Corsica), Luxembourg, and Belgium, followed by a major Asian journey encompassing Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore. This series forms part of the traditional collection “Pope Francis’ Journeys Around the World,” which since 2013 has accompanied and documented, through philately, the Pope’s path across the five continents, his celebrations and encounters with local communities, in an itinerary that unites peoples and cultures in the spirit of faith and fraternity. The destinations of these journeys, listed in detail on the souvenir sheet together with the corresponding dates, are represented by sacred sites, cultural symbols, or national emblems that evoke the identity of each place. This issue holds particular significance, as it represents the final philatelic series dedicated to the travels of the late Pope Francis, whose pontificate left a profound legacy of humanity, mercy, and universal openness.
