Stamp series Leo PP. XIV - Year I S.P. MMXXV - €2.45
An anticipation filled with emotion enveloped St. Peter’s Square, packed with a crowd in eager expectation. All eyes were fixed on the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, hearts suspended between hope and curiosity. Finally, a column of white smoke and the joyful ringing of bells broke the uncertainty, announcing to the world the election of the new Pope. A silence followed, dense with emotion and curiosity, broken only by the growing applause of those present, as everyone awaited the announcement of the new Pontiff’s name: Leo XIV. Appearing from the central loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica, the newly elected Pope, Leo XIV, delivered his first greeting to the faithful, with words echoing the greeting of the Risen Christ: “Peace be with you all!” His message, deeply spiritual and rooted in the Gospel, evoked Peace, an unarmed and disarming peace, grounded not in force but in gentleness, and in humble, persevering love that does not impose but walks alongside. The new Pope also took a moment to remember Pope Francis, with affection and gratitude, a sign of continuity and respect for the path he had undertaken.
