The essential and luminous style of the scene recalls the moment when God enters history in humility, fully sharing the human condition. As Pope Leo XIV recalled on January 11, “He who is baptized by John in the Jordan makes of this gesture a new sign of death and resurrection, of forgiveness and communion.” In this small masterpiece, the gesture at the Jordan becomes a living memory: the Lord enters our history and illuminates our path with the light of the Risen One.
